We went to the hospital tour tonight. In US, we don't go search around for the best hospital. We just go to what our medical insurance group belong to. Usually something close by, within the same city. Hassel free in a way.
Lots of memories with our hospital. My 2 cousins were born there 17 & 19 yrs ago, my grandma passed away there 8 yrs ago, my sister was a volunteer for the birth tour and she was responsibile to take pics for the new born at the time, some of my cousins and bro in law were also doing volunteer works there...all our dr. offices are right across the street. We're so familiar with the area, lots of feelings, memories and happy & sad tears in this hospital.
WH is the most family oriented and family involvement style of hospital. The Labor and Delivery Room are all in one. This means I will go through labor in the room and my physician and hospital staffs will come, check upon me and help me deliver in the same room. If everything goes smooth, once bb is born, bb will stay in the same room with me the whole time. This hosptial is a big believer in family bonding and so are we. Instead of taking the bb away from the mom right after birth to give mom time to recover and rest, the new born will stay in the room with the parents (daddy can stay overnight too). We anticipate lots of hands on challenges the first couple hrs or even days with our new born, it's good practice tho and the nurse or consultant are just there ready to help. We'll have our private toilet, shower, and bb bath sink in our room. Everything seems nice and neat and clean. We like it, sounds like a good plan!
