Becoming new parents 101

boy o boy, lots of classes we have taken and will attend.
4 x 2.5 hrs Labor & Delivery class
1 x 3 hrs Becoming New Parents class
1 x Breastfeeding class

Sounds like we are trying to get a degree for 1st time Mommy and Daddy. Overall classes are interesting, it's worth to spend the time. Some classes are pretty intense, we gonna do research, presentation, and group discussion serious stuff. Although I get most of the info. from the books I read, it's a good refreshment. Alex finds the classes very informative. I bet he is pretty stoked to find out bb stool can be greenish, yellowish, brownish, extremely watery in which is perfectly normal haha. He has been very concentrated in class and followed through the instruction about diaper changing, swaddling bb in a blanklet, bb bathing... Anson, I bet daddy can't wait to practice the skill on you.

We both really hope things will go well and I'll be giving birth naturally. Statastic shows 70% natural birth vs. 30% c-section in US, I hope I'll be one of the 70%.
We are taking our time to learn and absorb as much as we can. In reality, how much we will remember and will apply to our new born is another story. Haha we might have bb brain by then.

BB will be delivered at Washington Hospital, Fremont, CA

We went to the hospital tour tonight. In US, we don't go search around for the best hospital. We just go to what our medical insurance group belong to. Usually something close by, within the same city. Hassel free in a way.

Lots of memories with our hospital. My 2 cousins were born there 17 & 19 yrs ago, my grandma passed away there 8 yrs ago, my sister was a volunteer for the birth tour and she was responsibile to take pics for the new born at the time, some of my cousins and bro in law were also doing volunteer works there...all our dr. offices are right across the street. We're so familiar with the area, lots of feelings, memories and happy & sad tears in this hospital.

WH is the most family oriented and family involvement style of hospital. The Labor and Delivery Room are all in one. This means I will go through labor in the room and my physician and hospital staffs will come, check upon me and help me deliver in the same room. If everything goes smooth, once bb is born, bb will stay in the same room with me the whole time. This hosptial is a big believer in family bonding and so are we. Instead of taking the bb away from the mom right after birth to give mom time to recover and rest, the new born will stay in the room with the parents (daddy can stay overnight too). We anticipate lots of hands on challenges the first couple hrs or even days with our new born, it's good practice tho and the nurse or consultant are just there ready to help. We'll have our private toilet, shower, and bb bath sink in our room. Everything seems nice and neat and clean. We like it, sounds like a good plan!

Game Time Fun Time
1st: Guess what kind of chocolate in bb diaper, ill looks so yucky but it's sooooo funny when the guys smell it, lick it, touch it and get confused rather it's Kit Kat, Reese, Hershey, all they know it includes peanut butter, toffee, nut, almond fudge, etc. Alex Tung was calm and smart, he's the winner.

2nd: 8 couples. Feeding bb food with tiny bb spoon, the fastest the winner

It's filling to try to finish up the big jar of pear, strawberry banana, sweet potatoes, mixed bb food (sis, you're too generous, you should get them the carrot, pea, chicken noodle, the ones with chunky taste nothing kinda stuff and you feel sorry for the bb kinda bb food). Many couples didn't have patient and pour 1/2 jar into their other 1/2's mouth. Only the winner, Owen and Maggie followed the rule entirely. Honest winner!

3rd: Guess what's the 10 white stuff are: Baking powder, soda, flour, tide, formula, mama formula, salt, sugar, sugar powder. The winner got 6 correct answers but I love Bill's creative answers: Indiana sugar, expired starch, China sugar, KAKAKA
